1. Popcorn Ceiling

When people walk into a house, this is not what they want to see. No one can stand popcorn ceiling anymore. You can either remove it, or cover it up! Either way, it will look amazing when the popcorn ceiling is gone.

2. Wall Paper

Wall paper is another dreaded sight, especially old wall paper that has a yellow tint to it. This can be a daunting task but actually quite simple. It only takes a few steps to remove wallpaper.

  • First, take everything off the walls so you have a blank slate to work with.
  • Find a seam or the edge of the wall and try to peel off the wallpaper. If it comes off nice and easy, this task will be simple.
  • If your job isn’t so simple, Lowes does an incredible job by explaining how to take off different types of wallpaper.

3. Separating Walls

Open floor plans are all the rave right now, and I don’t see that going anywhere anytime soon! Being able to see your family and company in the living room while you are in the kitchen is amazing. Not sure why they separated all these areas in a house in the first place!

This is another thing people are looking for when buying a home, nice open floor plans. Taking down a wall isn’t an easy task, but it’s absolutely worth it!

First, you have to check if its load-bearing or not. You will want to consult with an architect or an engineer before tearing down any walls. One of these professionals will be able to tell you if a wall is holding up your house or not.

If you are lucky and the wall you want to tear down isn’t load-bearing, WikiHow explains in-depth how to tear down an interior wall.
