These Monarch Stone View Window Wells are egress compliant in most communities, but if ordering a well for bedroom egress, check with your local building inspector to verify your code requirements before ordering or installing any window well. 

Rules of thumb when deciding what size window well to order:

• Always add 2” on either side of the window to determine the width. This will prevent the concrete from cracking when the well is attached to the foundation wall. 
• The projection of these wells is an egress compliant 36”, so no additional math needed.
• The window well needs to be at least 8-12” deeper than the lower sill of the window, and allow 3-4” above ground level. When the well is backfilled, the topsoil should be sloped away from the lip of the well so the rain will not run back into the well.
