Use the Most Out of Your Laundry Room Space

Use the Most Out of Your Laundry Room Space
  1. Laundry rooms come in all shapes and sizes. You might have the luxury of having a large laundry room, but they aren’t necessary. If you’re dealing with one that’s on the smaller side, there are ways to make use of the small space you have!

There are simple functions you have to perform in your laundry room. These include washing, drying, folding, hanging, and places to keep all of your laundry detergents. That’s really it! You don’t need a large space to do this you just need to use the space given to you in the best way possible.

Shelving

laundry room shelves

Putting up shelves in your laundry room is easy and inexpensive. You can do this yourself today! You can install functional shelving or both functional and decorative, depending on your style. With a laundry room, there is no need to get fancy unless you want to enjoy a nice room to walk into. Floating wood shelves are always a nice touch if your home has a farm house feeling.

These shelves can be put above the washer and dryer so you’re not taking up extra room in this space. You can use these shelves for holding laundry items such as soaps, detergents, dryer sheets, folded towels or clothing items, and anything else you need!

Cabinets

If you don’t want people to see what is on your shelves, cabinets are the way to go! You can hide things easily in them and things don’t have to be as organized.

You can buy a couple kitchen cabinets about put them above the washer and dryer. Or if you have a stackable washer and dryer set, you can put a cabinet pantry on the other side for extra storage.

Hanging Racks

Hanging racks are a great addition that don’t have to take up space at all. Again, you can hang these way above the washer and dryer. Put it high enough for you to hang closes on but low enough for you to reach it.

You can also have a hanging rack coming out of any wall where you can reach it but high enough that it won’t get in the way.

Go a step further and make your own DIY laundry drying rack that folds up so it doesn’t take any room unless its folded down. Jen Wood House explains in detail how to make one to put into your own home!

Having this in your laundry room is great to hang clothes up right away that you don’t want to get wrinkled.

Folding Counter

To make life easier on you, put a folding counter in your laundry room! You can simply set this on top of your washer and dryer. Or connect a counter top or a plank of wood to the wall above the washer and dryer to use as the folding station. Take it right out of the laundry and fold it! It’s as simple as that!
