The beautiful season of fall is right around the corner! The leaves will be changing colors, the air is getting a little colder, and the warm fuzzy blankets are coming out. In my opinion, the best part of fall is decorating my house for the season!

Decorating your house in fall décor is an exciting time. So many fun things you can do inside and outside of your home to give it that fall vibe.

Fall Colors

Fall colors make your house feel so warm and inviting. Traditional fall colors range from golds, browns, yellows, reds, and oranges.

If you’re looking for a more modern touch on fall, keep the décor neutral such as whites and creams. If you want colors that are a little more glamorous, pick gold and silver decorations.

Even with the neutrals or metallic colors, you can always add a splash of the warmer colors within your color scheme.

Outside Décor

Make your home the talk of the neighborhood with a couple great ideas for outdoor decorations!

Check your local farm for hay bales. This is the perfect fall piece to add to the outside of your home. You can also add these around a fire pit in the backyard for creative seating.

Pumpkins are an obvious choice. Get the family together to carve pumpkins and place them on your porch. If you’re looking for a more stylish look for pumpkins, you can paint inviting sayings on them!  Sayings suck as “be thankful”, “welcome fall”, and “give thanks”.

Flowers are always a go to decoration. Fall is known for some gorgeous flowers such as garden mums, sumac, and pansies. HGTV has some other amazing flower suggestions here!

Inside Décor

Hang big rustic signs on the wall with fun fall sayings like “every year I fall for pumpkins, bonfires, s’mores, autumn leaves, apples, and you”.

Place decorative small or large pumpkins all throughout the house. They can be great decorations for everywhere!

You can add fall colors in accessories such as pillows, blankets, towels, flowers, and soaps!

Fall Scents

Candles, oil diffusers, and wax melts can make all the difference in making your home fall atmosphere complete. I personally believe the best way to make your house smell wonderful is making your own concoction in a slow cooker.

You only need a slow cooker or a pot and some key fall smelling ingredients for a lovely aroma. Place cinnamon sticks, orange rind, cloves, and bay leaves into a pot of water and let it simmer. Once the ingredients simmer for a while your house will be smelling magical!

The Season of Being Thankful

A beautifully fall decorated house where family and friends can gather is priceless. If you’re usually the host for family gatherings, be sure to implement these decorations inside and outside of your home. You’ll be sure to get everyone in the thankful spirit of fall!
