They can downright hurt you by stinging you, such as bees and wasps. Ticks are another one to look out for because of the bacteria they transmit. I think it’s safe to say no one wants to be bothered by any of these annoyances!

DIY Bug Spray

Are you looking to get naturally rid of them? Then this DIY natural bug spray is for you!

Ants – To get rid of ants around your home, pour 4 TBSP of olive oil and 1 TBSP of mint extract into a spray bottle. Spray this around windowsills, door jams, and foundation cracks.

Ticks – In a spray bottle, mix 2- drops of lemongrass essential oil, 20 drops of eucalyptus essential oil, and 4 ounces of water. This is safe for humans and dogs! Spray on shoes, socks, and pant cuffs.

Mosquitoes – In a spray bottle, mix 2 cups of filtered water, 5 drops of geranium essential oil, 10 drops of lavender essential oils, and 20 drops of citronella essential oils.

Spiders – Mix 15-20 drops of peppermint essential oil and 16 ounces of filtered water in a spray bottle. Spray this around windows and doors. Spiders will do anything to stay away from peppermint!

DIY Bug Repellent Candles

Placing candles outside at a backyard party doesn’t only look beautiful, but they can serve a significant purpose as well. Keep bugs away from your family and guests by placing these DIY bug repellent candles all over.

Here is what you need to get those mosquitos off your back!

  • Mason jars
  • 3 floating candles
  • 32 ounces of water.
  • 40 drops of rosemary essential oil
  • 1 lemon
  • 1 lime
  • 8 fresh rosemary sprigs

Separate the ingredients evenly into 3 separate mason jars. Place the floating candle on top, and you are finished! A gorgeous way to keep the nasty mosquitos away!

You can also mix lemon and oranges, thyme, lavender, rosemary, citronella oil, cinnamon, and hot water into mason jars as well. Place a floating candle on top, and you have another great natural bug repellent candle!
